Availability calendars, association sites

January 16, 2009 19:48 by Ben

UPDATE 1/23: A small number of users reported that their availability calendars were not showing the "next" and "previous" month navigation. This was due to the fact that some users made setting changes to this area last Friday, which were not properly saved, and caused some calendars to display a single month. To fix this problem, please log in to your Webervations account, go to your availability calendar settings, and set the calendar to display multiple months. Also, if any of your display settings are not correct (e.g. the "booked" graphic is wrong), make sure to reset that value and save it. It will then take about 1 hour for the changes to run through the system, after which your availability page should be correct.

UPDATE 1/19 1:00p CST: Some users have reported that the 2 month calendars (webervations_2_month.asp) were not updating.  This issue is now resolved.

UPDATE 1/17 4:30p CST: all availability issues with calendars and assocation sites are resolved now.

Also, some users are reporting that their embedded javascript (.js) availability calendars are not displaying.  We are working to resolve this as quickly as possible and should have this issue resolved very soon.

Hello everyone, we've received reports from some users that availability calendars are not showing accurate availability, and some association sites are not showing correct availability. We are working to resolve this as quickly as possible, and will keep you updated.

For the New GMS, after the transition the Correspondence history of all my reservations disappeared. This is a problem because we use this record of correspondence to verify our communications with guests.

Looks like our embedded availability is really messed up. Also, the Availability calendar is also really messed up. Check it out from our website... what a mess!!!!!!!!!

Our embedded availability calendars do not even show up on our website!

Anton

January 17. 2009 04:37

Our single cabin four month calendars appear on our "cabins" page, but show many more "x's" than we have booked.  Unfortunately, this makes people think we are full when we are not.
Our monthly calendar on our reservations page has completely disappeared.

As of 330AM EST on 1/17, I can finally log on to Webervations normally, and it appears that guests can make a reservation.  Two people did succeed in making a reservation on 1/16 although only one of the emails reached my inbox.  The other reservation I know about ONLY from logging on to Webervations!!!!  Everyone should be warned to check that page to ensure they do not miss a reservation.

The monthly calendar on reservations is no longer there.  Do have calendars on each individual cabin page but they are really messed up!  Showing lots of x's that are not reserved.  Guests think we are booked when we aren't.

Rhonda

January 17. 2009 09:39

The embedded availability calendar on each room page shows many more 'x' than we have as confirmed reservations.  This has been like this for at least 24 hrs.  (Another Inn owner called us to let us know about it as well.) Other functions seem to be fine, although one Webervations request yesterday did not make it through to us even in the system, but another did.

Also experiencing problems with accurate dates for reservations showing on the 6 month calenders.  Many errors on actual dates reserved.  Lin

Our monthly calender is not there.
When you go to our Reservations page, the calender is blank.
The two week calenders do appear when you go forward.

I had a customer make a reservation request, but their e-mail never made it to me.  She called to tell me that she had made the request, the system told her there was an error, but the good news is that it did block out her dates in the unit she needed.

January 17. 2009 11:16

Our availability calendar is missing completely. and has been since the start. Therefore, we are not able to show what we have nor take reservations online. as this is the main source of reservations, we are anxious to have this fixed as soon as possible, and not wait all weekend when we do the majority of our business on Saturday & sunday!

Kellie

January 17. 2009 11:19

The calendars on my website are truly a mess. Please correct as soon as possible, as this is our business that you are fooling around with.
Thank you.

Do you realize how much money this is costing me?  Everyone that looks at my website online would assume I am sold out for every weekend the next few months....which I am not.  I thought something was wrong when my reservation calls dropped off, and the only people calling had not been to my website.

On MLK weekend we are always sold out, but this weekend I have only 3 roomnights booked, which were referrals from other B&B's.  This little glitch has already cost me $1500 this weekend, and who knows how many other missed reservations have been turned away by webervations.

Seems I am not the only one with this problem, and to everyone else here, we are losing thousands of dollars.

I should send Webervations a bill for every room they rented online!

Still cannot update from GuestAll Next v 8

If I put in ftp.webervations.com I get error when uploading "cannot connect using userid and password"

If I return to the IP address originally in my GuestALL I get transfer complete However the update does not take.  I also do not get a return email showing me that the update has been accepted.

Having spent my career in IT I understand the challenges that you are facing.  I am sure you will work through all the issues.  I just wanted to log my one and only problem in.

Thank You for all your work.

Hello and help.  The calendars on all websites are incorrect.  They show no bookings at all for Jan, Feb, and March.  I'm glad it isn't the other way around, but will greatly appreciate it being corrected so I don't have to deal with double bookings.

My availability calander will not update, it shows avaiability when I don't have it and no rooms when I do...seems to be random which is a real problem for me..I am not sure where I am with reservations...guess I will just have to sit tight untill we have a valid system..yes, we are all losing money and frustrating guests...but I am hoping it will be validated soon.  For now, to the guests that call, I am blaming everything on eruptions of Sunspots and the Secret Service tinkering with things.

Wayne Engel

January 17. 2009 12:39

My guests see different availability from what I see.  When I update, it updates on my screen but not on theirs.

January 17. 2009 12:52

Now the calendars are just all messed up.  I have gone to all of my websites and posted huge notices to ignore the calendars and call or email for availability do to server problems.  This is certainly a financial concern for all of us during these already troubled times.  Sue

Another customer without a calendar showing on our availablity web page.
We're able to logon to Webervations and updates from GuestAll appear to upload... but we never receive the regular email confirmation about the upload. We can't see a calendar so we don't know. Maybe my uploads went into cyberspace???
Like others, weekends are our busiest time. Have had folks email and call telling me the calendar is not there. Wonder how many reservations we might miss???

Guys - this is starting to get beyond a joke.  48 hours on and our images are all wrong and our embedded calendars are either still not showing, or are displaying that everything is fully booked.  I know for a fact that I have today lost at least two one-week summer bookings - value over $1000 - because of this. (I know because both have gone with a competitor, who gleefully told me so tonight, and rang to see how come I was "so busy" in the recession!).
As another owner commented - this is our livelyhoods that are being messed-up.  We were promised that David Swain was staying on to ensure a smooth transition.  We've heard nothing from him or anyone else "at the top".  We may be small fry (we're just vacation rentals in the UK), but reading the various blog comments, owners around the world are still suffering from this supposedly straightforward server switch.

Tim Edwards

January 17. 2009 17:01

Sent this via email yesterday, but then saw you guys recommend posting on the blog instead.  Here's what we're seeing:

Our individual listing shows up just fine - correct rooms, rates, availability, packages, etc.

When a guest clicks SUBMIT to send us their information, they get the following message:

"We're sorry. We are experiencing technical difficulties.
Please use the back button on your browser and try again.
If you still cannot reach the page you want, please try again later.
Again, we apologize for any inconvenience.
This error is being logged and will be reviewed and corrected as soon as possible.
If you have any questions, please contact Support@webervations.com.
Thank you."

The information does arrive into our desktop Rezovation program when we update availability.

The reservation request does *not* come through email.  I have double checked our spam/bulk/deleted folders just in case, and I have tested it myself with the same result.

Please let all of us know what is happening, progress reports, etc.  There is no such thing as "too much information" when it concerns our businesses!

January 17. 2009 17:04

@ Tim -- this is no joke to us either and believe me when I say we are the last folks that want to see any kind of issues in the system.  We have been working steadily since yesterday and should have this resolved very soon.  I am the director of product management here for RezOvation & Webervations, and manage all development and support for both groups, so this is coming from the source.  I am very sorry for this problem, if we could have anticipated it and prevented it, we certainly would have.  I'm posting regular updates here and you will have the latest info as soon as I do.  Every customer is important to us and you are all a priority in terms of making sure that the system is working properly.

Ben

January 17. 2009 17:45

Ben,  I was informed by one of your staff on Friday afternoon that you all were aware of these problems and that the programers had gone for the night and would be back on Saturday to resolve these issues.I received an email from your company 30minutes before my phone call staing that"all sytems were up and running nicely". I think that it is terribly unprofessional that you did not inform your customers of these issues that you were aware of. I realize that no one probably did this on purpose but you should have informed your customers, especially since you were sending your programers home for the evening. The evening is when most people get on the internet and make their travel plans for the weekend. Your company's lack of professional comunication has cost a lot of small businesses like myself a lot of money that we just can't afford to lose in this economy.

Hi,
I am unable to view the embedded calendar at the site listed above.
Thanks for your support,
Karen

January 17. 2009 18:14

@ Deede -- at the time that the email you mentioned was sent, we were not aware of an issue with the availability calendars, and the core system was up as mentioned. It was only later that it was discovered that we were having problems, at which point we did post an update on the blog, and we've been working on this issue since then. I do apologize if there was a miscommunication there, and one of the things we have been working hard to do is to communicate promptly and professionally with our customers, both via email updates and on this blog.

As far as the timing of this -- historically, the absolutely lightest booking days are Fri-Sat-Sun. The lightest booking time periods are always holiday weekends as well, and the lightest booking period and travel period is mid-winter.

-Ben

Ben

January 17. 2009 18:28

Ben - we appreciate that you've worked hard to sort this out and things seem to be improving as the day has gone on.  Do remember that most users of Webervations are small companies and husband and wife partnerships, so a few lost 7 night bookings can be serious money for us - especially in the current recession.  It's 10.30pm here in the UK and we're still busy on damage limitation caused by all this.  Do remember you have clients worldwide.  It may be a holiday and a quiet weekend in the USA, but it isn't here in Europe!  Our busiest time for booking summer holiday cottages ("holiday homes") is the middle of January with Sundays being the peak day for internet bookings.  So, PLEASE don't give up and go home just yet!

Tim Edwards

January 17. 2009 18:41

@ Tim - we certainly do what we can to minimize the impacts on everyone, and do apologize for how it has affected you.  We are not in the business of giving up here and do understand that the vast majority of our users are small businesses. The good news is that availability and images are back to normal now.  Thanks for your patience.

Ben

January 17. 2009 18:57

STATUS UPDATE: availability issues for association sites and calendars have been resolved.

Ben

January 17. 2009 19:08

@ Amanda - we are looking into this problem for you and will keep you posted.

Ben

January 17. 2009 21:29

Ben, As far as the timing of this major disaster on your end,  MLK weekend is historically a huge weekend for us here in the NC mountains since we are within 20 minutes of all the ski resorts in the state. Alot of folks wait until the last minute to make their travel plans to see what the weather is going to do. This is the weekend that we count on to get us through the month and because of your company showing that all my rooms were booked for this weekend we have truly missed out on business that we will not be able to recover. I've been here since 1997 and I can tell you that your data is completely the opposite to my business records.

January 18. 2009 11:47

Ben,

I saw three test reservations come through on email, but many more did not come through.  The three that were successful:
smcdougal@bedandbreakfast.com for 1/18-1/20 Mini-Suite 800pm
smcdougal@bedandbreakfast.com for 1/20-1/22 Mini-Suite 722pm
smcdougal@bedandbreakfast.com for 1/18-1/20 Mini-Suite 705pm

Tried it this morning myself.  Guest side works just fine, again not showing up in email account but request does show up in desktop Rezovation program when updating online availability.

Just reconfirming...our account should have reservation requests sent to info@victoriaresort.com

Amanda Creeden

January 18. 2009 11:57

One little detail... The guest receives a copy of the Webervation request in their email box, but the subject line of that email says "Webervations Request !! from the BBOnline Web site".  This is incorrect - I started from VictoriaResort.com then clicked through to Webervations.  I would appreciate it if you could fix that too -- although this can be low on the fixit list -- just want to make sure we're not giving credit to the wrong website.  Thanks!

Wayne Engel

January 18. 2009 17:27

@ Wayne - I am able to view your availability on your website.  Can you please point me to the specific page that is not working for you?  Please view this page for information on how to update your GuestALL - www.rezovation.com/webervations_transition.html.  If you are still having problems, you may need to contact GuestALL support -- the instructions are based on information given to us by the GuestALL folks.  We're looking into the email issues as well.

Ben

January 18. 2009 18:40

we are able to view our calendar on our site, but it is not updateing. Specifically, january 30& 31 booked early this morning and has not updates all day on our website for the hillside Haven Cottage...

Kellie

January 18. 2009 18:42

Hi Ben..  that link does not work for me... page cannot be found.  The specific page is the availability page for webervations...  Note that the weekend of Oct 8-9 is booked in guest all... try the link from our homepage to make a reservation.   If it works Smile you lucky...then the "availability" webervations page will come up.. enter Oct 8-9, you will see that all rooms show availability when they are booked on Guest-all. Thanks

Wayne Engel

January 18. 2009 18:45

Have you resolved the issue of confirming a valid update of the reservations from guest all to webervations??  that is the issue.. there is no return confirmation that validates that an update has successfully been done.

Wayne Engel

January 18. 2009 18:47

@ Wayne - we are still looking into the update confirmation email issue.

Ben

January 18. 2009 18:47

If you would fix that link so I could access the right transition update I would be happy to try it...maybe that would do the fix.

Wayne Engel

January 18. 2009 18:50

not just the reservation mentioned before, it is any reservation taken today is not shoing up as booked on our calendar that is on our webpage. it is showing up as booked on our calendar thru webervations...

Kellie

January 18. 2009 18:52

@ Kellie - are you updating from a software program?  If so we have noticed a problem and are working on fixing it.  Please see: blog.rezovation.com/.../...ads-from-FTP-users.aspx

Ben

January 18. 2009 18:54

@ Wayne - try this link: www.rezovation.com/webervations_transition.html

Ben

January 18. 2009 19:30

Oh yes, I saw that when it came out...my Guest All is the latest edition  Guest-All Next so I am on the list that should not be having IP difficulties...so...what do I tell guest all support about all this mess?  seems that all are having trouble with valid reservation/calander updates as a result of this "transition"...

Wayne Engel

January 18. 2009 19:56

@ Wayne - we've tested our RezOvation software, which uses the same XML interface as the newer versions of GuestALL, and it works just fine, so I can't think of a reason why your software is not working. Unfortunately, we don't have a copy of GuestALL to test with, but we did work with the GuestALL folks prior to the switch to ensure that they would not have any issues. If you do need to contact their support, just let them know what version of GuestALL you are using, and they can troubleshoot from there. Sorry for the trouble.

Ben

January 18. 2009 20:50

@ Howard - if you are still having problems uploading via GuestALL, you may want to contact their support.  We listed the update process as we know it on www.rezovation.com/webervations_transition.html, so take a look at that as well.

Ben

January 20. 2009 20:34

Okay so the guest just showed up who called with NO CONFIRMATION and she mentioned BBONLINE.  I went in and did a dummy rez and NEVER got an email or confirmation as the guest or the innkeeper.  I did get this (which she mentioned she got):

Someone from The Claiborne House Bed & Breakfast will contact you shortly.

Again, this is not a confirmed reservation
someone will contact you.

If you need additional assistance please contact us by phone.

Which SUCKED as I was out of town and had my phone message to read out of office until!  I was relying on WEBERVATIONS to take my bookings online LIKE USUAL and be RELIABLE.

Shellie Leete

January 20. 2009 20:42

@ Shellie -- did you just put in a test on BBonline, or was this done earlier today?  Either way, please let us know and we will investigate.  It's a top priority for us that the system be reliable, and we will resolve any issues ASAP.

Ben

January 21. 2009 09:23

I did run a test.  Not sure what the deal is with it, I did get the email an hour later and never got the one from the guest who just left here.  UGH

I have emailed BBONLINE to ask how to remove the reservation REQUESTS from the big BOOK NOW BUBBLE. If you click the Book Now beside a room/date then you get our webervations PAGE on our own website.  But the big BUBBLE that says BOOK NOW top center is a request only.  I have been out of town and don't want ANY requests, only real time bookings.

Shellie Leete

January 22. 2009 12:35

when my schedule of availability will it be functional???????????????
http://www.atmospherebb.com/availability.html
the Javascript nextmonth() left corner does not work for several days ....

Patryck

January 22. 2009 13:38

@ Patryck - I do apologize for the delay on this, we have been working on this since it was discovered, and have found that a small number of users are affected as a result of some data that was not generated properly.  We are working to correct this as quickly as possible.

Ben

January 23. 2009 15:12

Ben

January 23. 2009 15:38

@ Patryck - I've updated your calendar for you, it should be updated on your website in the next hour.  Thanks for your patience.
