Webervations system status

January 16, 2009 07:39 by Ben

Good morning everyone,

The switchover went well, and all core systems are online, including guest bookings, admin sites, and PMS software uploads.  The following issues still exist:

  • Some header / footer images in the guest booking pages and admin sites may not appear, as the images are still being propagated.
  • Graphical availability calendars were not updated (usually these are rebuilt every night), and may not show any changes made in the last 24 hours.  These calendars will be updated in the next 24 hours.
  • There may be a delay in emails sent to support@webervations.com or info@webervations.com.  We're working to fix this as quickly as possible.

We'll keep you posted when these issues are resolved, and give you additional updates with any other status changes.

UPDATE: All issues listed above should be resolved as of 1/17 4:30 PM CST.

Hi Jeff,

So if I'm understanding you, you can check availability, but when you click the button for "Make a reservation request" you are getting a "webpage not available" error?  Can you please post the exact website URL that is not working for you?  I did test from here and it appears to be working, but there may be some DNS server issues at this point, which tends to cause geographic specific issues.

You can also contact me directly at ben.littler@rezovation.com.

Thanks - Ben

After talking to our IT director all DNS records should be propagated (DNS = Domain Name Server and essentially redirects you from a website name such as webervations.com to a physical server IP address).  So, it may be that your local DNS settings are "stale" or what we call "cached".  You can update these in Windows by doing the following:

One thing you could try is to clear out your DNS cache (this will refresh where your computer is looking for this website – it’s probably still trying to hit the old Ohio servers) by doing the following:

*Windows XP*
Go to the Start menu.  Click Run.  In the box, type the following and press enter:
cmd

A command window should appear.  Type the following and press enter:
ipconfig /flushdns

*Windows Vista*

Go to the Start menu, and in the search box, type the following and press Enter:
cmd

A command window should appear.  Type the following and press enter:
ipconfig /flushdns

My page availability in my web site linked to the calendar showing the availabilities of my bedrooms doesn't work, I need this up and running asap. There is something that I need to do in order to get it back? The link to change or something. Send me the info quickly.

In addition ALL pictures on the Prince Edward County Chamber of Tourism and Commerce Group display are not visible, as well as all pictures within the 53 member accounts are not shown.
Please advise.

Hi Patryck,

I just checked your website and I can get to the Reservation link.  Can you please let me know specifically which page is not working for you?  I need to know the exact website address (just copy from the address bar at the top of your browser).

Thanks - Ben

Hello Rainer from PECCTAC Group -

As part of the transition process, we had to move the entire system to Texas, and some images are still propagating over. We expect the images to come back up in the next few hours.  I do apologize for the delay on this.  We’ll keep this blog updated with status.

Thanks - Ben

Hello Ben from England (OLD England that is!).
It's now mid-afternoon here, so the Webervations site went down just as we were waking-up and starting trading, but were back by late morning.  However, the individual availability calendars and summary calendars (see updates.webervations.com/.../resstart.asp are not yet working again.  Any idea when they will be as we use them throughout our website?
Kind regards
Tim

I get in to the web page to view availability, then at the bottom when I click on the button 'Click to make a Reservation Request', it goes to the following page:   secure.webervations.com/.../resmake.asp%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Eriverdaleresort%2Ecom%2F&javaon=    and says page cannot be found.  What do I need to do?  Thanks.

I just posted another issue I'm having, but I forgot to add another.  From within the software Campground Master, I go to the Retrieve On-Line Reservations function and I get the following error:  Error Retrieving Data -- error 404 returned from server.  Then another screen pops up saying 'Process aborted, did not retrieve data files'.  Is there something I need to update on my side in the software?  Thanks.

Having the same problems here with no pictures and not able to book.

@ Tim from UK - can you please give me the exact webpage URL of the calendar you are referring to?  The one you posted is for the Webervations admin site.  Thanks!

Ben

@ Ryan @ Marsha - See blog.rezovation.com/.../...me-pages-dont-load.aspx for some options.  You may just have to wait a few hours for this to come up for you, it is probably a DNS issue local to your location.  Also, images will be up to date very soon -- nothing you need to do there.  See blog.rezovation.com/.../...ages-not-appearing.aspx for details.

@ Ryan - you may need to update your Campground Master software to use ftp.webervations.com instead of an IP address, if you are using FTP to upload data.  Please feel free to contact me via email if you'd like to discuss further.

Ben
Our calendars are set up as per the instructions on the Webervations website (Configuration>Web Page Setup> bottom of page. Added 14th October 2006). Our webpage they show at is:  www.westwoodlodge.co.uk/availability.html
The individual unit calendars are now showing, so it can't be a big problem.
Many thanks for your hard work

@ Tim - thanks for the clarification and the URL.  I think the issue here is that the availability calendar is an image, and the images are still pulling over from the old servers.  This should be resolved in a few hours.  Thanks for you patience!

Ben - I tried to send you an email at support@webervations.com but it came back as undeliverable.  What email address should I use?  Sorry to put this in the blog, but not sure how else to get you the message.

Ben, when the availability calendar comes up for each cabin, it is not accurate, it shows the next 6 months of 2009, but it is all wrong,it looks like 2008 .
thanks

My embedded availability calendars are also "working", but they are grossly inaccurate, showing rooms available and unavailable seemingly at random.

add me to the list of embedded calendars showing incorrect dates, please can we make this a priority, everything is showing booked when it isnt, it wouldnt be such a big deal if it was showing the units as available

I can sign in on my webervations log in page, but it keeps telling me the there are "0" viewings of my availability calendar since being reset"....I know there are viewings but it won't show me the number anymore? Why?

@ Connie - we've received a few reports of this and are investigating why the counters are not updating.
